#1 drink a kale smoothie

Superfoods seem to be the latest craze-am I right? And everyone I know seems to be raving about Kale!



I'm not 100% sure on why this new veg is different to lettuce and given that A and I'm sure a lot of you aren't really sure what the dealio is with this new 'magical' green stuff- so here's the DL: 

•it belongs to the cabbage family
•it has a super high antioxidant content
•impressive anti-cancer agent
•increases urinary health
•has a truckload of vitamins

So what if you can't find kale in your local woolies? Well spinach is reported to be just as good so get some of those leafy greens into you!!!

So it appears that its much more difficult to buy a kale smoothie than you would think-so we made our own. We used the following recipe:


INGREDIENTS

  • 1 teaspoon cacao nibs
  • 1/3 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 2 teaspoons flax seeds
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup blueberries
  • ½ cup pineapple
  • 1 cup kale

Now we know just how fab kale is for us- how did ours taste?

The verdict: Absolutely revolting. Although, after we strained most of the klumps of kale out that were still there it wasn't so bad I suppose...

So unless any of you wonderful people out there can find us a way in which Kale is absolutely de-lish, I think it can stay out of my kitchen. Do you have a fav kale recipe?
